Caring for Cats

has amazing healing qualities, due to its wave frequency, or vibration. It’s even been found to lower blood pressure and relieve breathing disorders in humans. Just hearing their purr makes you more relaxed and loved, as cats usually only purr when they are content.

It won’t surprise you to know that I regard cats as one of the great joys in the world. I see them as a gift of the highest order. Whether it’s cats in domesticity, or those in the wild, they have so much to teach us—beginning with their inherent credo that it’s the simple things in life that create the greatest happiness. They have this amazing insight, and they can impart it, as long as we’re open to the spiritual adventure.

When cats use their claws on one of the dining room chairs, they don’t know it’s your beloved furniture they’re scratching, so don’t be too cross with them. To them, your highly valued chairs are just pieces of wood, and they can’t think of a single reason not to scratch away to their heart’s content. As I’ve said before, cats need to regularly remove the outer casing of their nails. If they can’t find wood, then coarse fabrics such as curtains and couches will suffice, irrespective of how much you may treasure them. However, if you provide them with a suitable scratchy pole, or scratching device, you can encourage them to use this.

Here’s a tip you’ll love me for when you see how well it works: when you see them scratching your belongings, take them to the scratchy pole and gently hold their front paws and run their claws down the rope or carpet on the pole.
